Comic Con India Targets Growth with Delhi Flagship Event

Comic Con India will stage its marquee Delhi event on December 5-7, 2025, at NSIC Exhibition Grounds, as the entertainment company seeks to capitalize on India's expanding pop-culture market.

The three-day convention drew over 52,000 attendees in its previous iteration, demonstrating the commercial viability of fan-driven events in India's tier-one cities. NODWIN Gaming, which operates the franchise, has positioned Delhi as its primary market since launching in 2011.

"Delhi will always be home for Comic Con India. This is where it all began in 2011," said Akshat Rathee, Co-founder and MD of NODWIN Gaming, emphasizing the city's role as the company's launch platform.

Beyond consumer entertainment, the event functions as a B2B networking hub connecting content creators, gaming companies, and media professionals through panel sessions and workshops. The convention's expansion into gaming tournaments, VR experiences, and celebrity appearances reflects broader diversification trends in India's entertainment sector.

Previous editions have attracted international creators including Marvel writers and Japanese voice actors, signaling market sophistication. CEO Shefali Johnson noted the event's community-building aspect, describing the "warmth and excitement in Delhi" that creates family-like connections among attendees.

Supreme Court to Consolidate Challenges to Online Money Gaming Ban

The Supreme Court will hear consolidated challenges to India's sweeping online money gaming ban after transferring petitions from three high courts on September 8, setting up a decisive legal battle over the legislation.

The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, which prohibits real-money gaming platforms, faces legal challenges from companies including Head Digital Works, operator of A23 Rummy, and Clubboom11 Sports & Entertainment, which runs fantasy platform Boom11.

Justices JB Pardiwala and KV Vishwanathan ordered Karnataka, Delhi, and Madhya Pradesh high courts to transfer all records within a week, with future petitions automatically routed to the apex court. The Centre had requested consolidation to avoid conflicting rulings.

Gaming avatars aren't always what they seem! Nearly 29% of male gamers prefer playing as female characters, while only 9% of women choose male avatars. This creates a wild gaming reality: in your typical PC or console game, about 60% of the female characters you encounter are actually controlled by male players behind the screen! This trend has remained surprisingly consistent for over 20 years, dating back to early MMORPGs like EverQuest.
