MrBeast Faces Creator Backlash After Launching AI Thumbnail Tool
YouTube creator Jimmy "MrBeast” Donaldson has launched an artificial intelligence-powered thumbnail generation tool through partner Viewstats, offering content creators an alternative to traditional design methods for $80 per month.
The tool allows users to select existing YouTube channels as "inspiration," input prompts to generate similar thumbnails themed around their content, and swap faces to customize images for their channels. MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, positioned the service as a more affordable option than hiring thumbnail artists or using software like Photoshop.
The system is algorithmically designed to optimize engagement for YouTube videos, targeting creators who need clickable content to build profitable channels but lack resources for professional design services.
However, the launch drew criticism from fellow creators over unauthorized use of their work with YouTuber Seán William "JackSepticEye" McLoughlin objecting to AI implementation and the inclusion of his logo in promotional material for the tool. YouTuber Eric “PointCrow” Morino also criticized the system by pointing out that it essentially “steals” creators' and artists' work without permission.
Following the public backlash, MrBeast promised modifications, stating that face-swapping features should only allow users to insert their own faces onto their own thumbnails, not others. He said his goal was to create equal opportunities between large creators with extensive teams and newcomers lacking resources.

🎮 Play: I wasn't expecting much from PEAK, but this climbing game completely hooked me. The physics-based mechanics create real tension as you scale cliffs with friends or solo. Every handhold matters, stamina runs low, and reaching the summit feels incredible. Trust me, this one's worth your time.

💡Did You Know
Nintendo's Mario exists because of a failed Popeye licensing deal! In 1981, Shigeru Miyamoto was developing an arcade game featuring Popeye as the hero, Bluto as the villain, and Olive Oyl as the damsel in distress. The concept was directly inspired by the 1934 Popeye cartoon "A Dream Walking," which featured Olive sleepwalking through a construction site. When Nintendo couldn't secure the character rights, they kept the entire game concept but created original characters instead, giving birth to Mario, Bowser, and Princess Peach.
