Pixel P&L: BIS Listing Suggests PS5 Pro is Headed to India Officially

Welcome to another Pixel P&L edition. This issue takes 5 minutes to read. If you only have one, here are the 5 most important things:
Sony has registered the PS5 Pro with India's standards bureau, an official launch may be coming soon.
Roblox launches two creator programs targeting older, higher-spending users.
EA cuts jobs across Battlefield Studios after uneven live-service performance.
Sega admits critical acclaim hasn't driven sales, plans marketing overhaul.
Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami's new studio is building an AAA title on Unreal Engine 5.
Let's get into it.
Sony Registers PS5 Pro With Indian Standards Bureau, Signaling Potential Market Entry
Sony appears to be preparing an official Indian launch for the PS5 Pro. A Bureau of Indian Standards database listing spotted by PlayStation enthusiast Arjun Campbell shows the console's model number, CFI-7121, registered earlier today.
An official release would matter most for warranty and after-sales support. The PS5 Pro has already been available through grey-market retailers and suppliers across India since its November 2024 launch, priced between Rs. 70,000 and Rs. 80,000. But stock will likely stay thin. During the PS4 generation, the Pro model never exceeded 10 to 15 percent of total PS4 sales.
Expect pricing around Rs. 75,000 or higher, a Rs. 25,000 premium over the base PS5's Rs. 50,000 disc edition. Sony's near-term priority in India will likely remain the standard PS5, especially with Saros, Wolverine, and GTA 6 approaching, titles that run on either model.
Roblox Launches Two Creator Programs to Court Older, Higher-Spending Users
Roblox is rolling out two developer programs, Incubator and Jumpstart, as the platform pushes to attract experienced game makers and build content for its fast-growing adult audience.
Incubator is a six-month program pairing seasoned development teams with Roblox mentors to turn early-stage game concepts into commercial releases. Jumpstart, open on a rolling basis, targets newer creators learning the platform and experienced developers experimenting with unfamiliar genres. Applications for both are now open.
The announcement came alongside new user data that frames the programs' commercial logic. Roblox said 45% of daily active users have completed its age verification as of January 31, with 27% of that group over 18. In the U.S., the 18-to-34 cohort is growing at more than 50% year over year and spends 40% more than under-18 users.
The programs arrive as Roblox faces legal pressure over child safety, including a Los Angeles lawsuit and scrutiny from Australian regulators.

Electronic Arts Cuts Jobs Across Battlefield Studios as Live-Service Strategy Shifts
Electronic Arts is laying off staff across its Battlefield Studios group, affecting developers at Criterion, DICE, Ripple Effect, and Motive, IGN reported. The cuts follow Battlefield 6's uneven post-launch performance after its October 2025 release. EA framed the move as a "realignment" as the live-service model continues to shift. The total number of affected employees remains unclear.
Sega Acknowledges Critical Acclaim Hasn't Driven Higher Sales, Plans Marketing Overhaul
Sega said its recent games have earned "relatively high acclaim" but that strong reviews have not translated to stronger unit sales. The publisher, whose recent lineup includes Metaphor: ReFantazio (Metacritic 94) and Shinobi: Art of Vengeance (87), said it sees "significant room for improvement" in marketing and sales. Sega plans to shift toward data-driven pricing, unified global publishing, and IP-based marketing strategies.
Resident Evil Creator Shinji Mikami's New Studio Working on AAA Title
Shinji Mikami, director of the original Resident Evil and Resident Evil 4, is now resident director at Unbound Games, a studio founded in 2022. Producer Masato Kimura, formerly of Ghostwire: Tokyo, said the team is building an Unreal Engine 5 title targeting "AAA quality and AA content" for PS5, Xbox, and PC, citing the difficulty of matching Western AAA budgets from Japan.

📺 Listen: Jarvis Johnson's breakdown of the $375,000 Pokémon scam remains the definitive case study on influencer-driven collectibles bubbles. Investors calling themselves "Dumb Money" admitted they knew nothing about Pokémon a week before the deal. The seller spun an elaborate gun safe backstory to explain tampering signs. The community spotted red flags immediately. Watch the live-streamed moment the box opens to reveal 2020 commons instead of 1999 rares. Still relevant today.
🎮 Play: SYNTHETIK 2 has been in Early Access for four years, but the foundation still goes exceptionally hard. Guns sound devastating, hit feedback feels meaty, and co-op might be how it's meant to be played. Crank it to escalation 3, chain rocket jumps into explosive kicks, bounce corners unloading full-auto shotguns into shield drones. You'll die repeatedly until it clicks. UI bugs linger, but the core loop delivers glorious rocket tag with depth.
📚 Read: Two women who shipped dozens of games explain what it takes to be taken seriously in Indian game dev. Megha Gupta funded Spook-A-Boo herself on a survival budget. Vanita Mascarenhas produced FAU-G: Domination when funding only flowed to casual games. Both still walk into rooms as the only woman among thirty men. The industry's gender problem isn't who's applying, it's what happens once you're in the room.
💡Did You Know
You'd need about 250,000 high-end home PCs just to store one exabyte of data. Steam users blew past that number 100 times over in 2025, downloading 100 exabytes of games, with daily installs and updates averaging 274 petabytes. For context, an exabyte is one quintillion bytes, a unit normally reserved for measuring total daily internet traffic. Valve's Year in Review also reported that Steam now hits 42 million peak concurrent users, up from 25 million five years ago, growing at a steady clip of about 3.4 million additional concurrent users per year.
